JON D. NICHOL
General Contractor
SUMMARY OF PROFESSIONAL HISTORY
My construction
experience over the past 30 years is accentuated by
a beginning in building during my youth. I grew up
in a construction family and was fortunate to gain a
valuable and well rounded experience and education
in literally all facets of construction.
1983-1984
Hired
as Foreman on a large renovation working for Valley
Builders out of Gunnison, Utah.
Gained skills in footings and foundations as well as
concrete flat work, grading surveying and many other
crucial general contracting skills.
1984-1990
Worked
in Mesa, Arizona for Rowley Construction, as Foreman
for 6 years building homes of up to 10,000 sq. ft
many of which were show homes. As a result, I
developed a strong background in framing.
1990-1993
Moved
back to Utah in 1990. Obtained General Contractors
license and began building homes as Nichol
Construction & Development.
Started as a Framing Contractor but soon began
general contracting on custom homes.
Involved extensively with Provo
City Redevelopment designing renovations for several
homes and actually performing all work on many of
these homes over 4 years.
Began building a multi-million dollar home in
Berkeley California in 1992.
While in Berkeley, At
that time I was approached by the owner of Panda
Homes, who was looking for someone to help upgrade
their building program. I went to work for Panda
originally as a consultant to the construction
manager. After 4 months they asked me if I would run
the construction department as its Manager.
1993-1999
Construction
Manger, Panda Bear Homes, Inc. For 6 years worked as
the Construction Manager for Panda Homes, an
established volume home builder in Central Utah.
Panda Homes averaged approx. 60 home starts and
closings annually when I was originally hired
After my second year
as Panda’s Manager, I had increased their production
to 117 home starts with 107 closings. During my time
managing Panda, they continued to remain in the top
5 home builders in Utah (obtained from “The Wasatch
Front Construction Monitor”)
During and after my time with Panda Homes, I was a
member of the Utah Valley Home Builders Association
and served on the International Committee of
Building Officials (Beehive Chapter), as a member of
the ICBO, I was involved in Building code reform and
helping to structure more consistency in how
inspectors performed inspection and code
interpretation.
1999-2003
Owner,
Nichol Construction & Development. After several
years with Panda Homes, I returned to building
custom homes in Utah County. During that time I
developed a warranty program that serviced over 500
homes for several different Builders.
2003-2006
Bought
out custom cabinet company and in 2004 brought in a
partner in to help manage allowing me to continue
building custom homes. In 2005 I began working with
PSNet’s PSNet Properties
division, owned by Chad Sayers. We currently have
